Leisa Whyte in her lounge room

That Summer

Following the sudden disappearance of her father, Connie has the idea of returning to the family’s beach house and the memories of her childhood, in the hope she and her family can find some peace and honour his memory. They will need to overcome years of their family’s unspoken pain, grief and anger.

In this creative development, Leisa Whyte works with Lachlan Philpott to expand on her existing work, seeking to grow the visibility and calibre of writing generated from the Albury Wodonga region. It is an important part of the process that playwrights see their work ‘alive’, in collaboration with a trusted dramaturg, director and actors.

At the showing of this work, the cast read from script, so the writer and an audience can ascertain whether the intention of the work is realised.

It’s an opportunity to get in on the work from the ground up.
