This July school holidays, join us at the Butter Factory Theatre to explore ‘the new normal’ and view the world we live in from new angles with new adventures. Let’s get back out into the big wide world, from the safety of the theatre!

In order to provide a safe working environment for participants, HotHouse Theatre will be offering a series of one-day intensive focused on creating and performing a monologue or duologue for students aged 8-18 years old.

Each day is separated into age ranges and will be limited to 4 people maximum to comply with COVID safety protocols. To enroll please choose which age group most suitable and enroll with a buddy to keep you company!

At the end of each intensive, students’ performances will be filmed. At the end of the week, all creations will be collated and live-streamed as a single presentation at 4:00 PM on Friday 10  July to share with friends and family.

This workshop will focus on the following theatre techniques:

  • Improvisation
  • Script writing
  • Monologue Techniques
  • Working to Camera


Session 1: 8-12 years old – Monday 6 July, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Session 2: 10-14 years old – Tuesday 7 July 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Session 3: 12-15 years old –  Wednesday 8 July 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Session 4. 15-18 years old –  Thursday 9 July 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Livestream Friday July 10 4pm (Zoom catch up’s may be required during the day.)

What to bring?

Students should bring their lunch, snacks and own water bottle.
Please ensure all snacks and meals are nut free.
Hand sanitizer will be available on site but you may wish to bring your own.

Refund policy

In line with best practice, if a participant is showing any symptoms of COVID 19 (sore throat, raised temperature, runny nose, etc) we request that they do not attend. Please contact the office on 02 6021 7433. If a participant is unable to attend for these reasons we will provide a full refund.
