ARTIST MENTORING
GROUNDWORK artists mentoring program starts in Autumn 2026 with a dozen local artists and independent theatre makers who responded with EOIs to our pre-Christmas callout. Creative Director Lindy Hume will sit down with each of these artists in the Butter Factory Studio to discuss their practices, projects and plans, listen to their ideas; to see where these conversations might lead and how HH can support their ambitions.

School holiday program for emerging performers AGED 12-16.
We’ll soon be announcing some exciting changes to our youth drama program for 2026.
HotHouse’s unique skills development program prepares young performers to launch toward their chosen disciplines. Through curiosity, exploration, connection and play, they’ll begin discovering their craft through exploration of rehearsal room process, performance, theatre-making techniques and introduction to text.
A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY (National Artists Residency)
A dilapidated farmhouse on Wiradjuri Country near the Wonga Wetlands has been transformed into an artist’s residency offering the serenity, escape and focus of a regional residency for artists and creative teams. When it began in 2004, A Month in the Country changed the national conversation around the development of new theatre work. Today the residency continues to welcome and inspire artists from all around Australia, connecting locals with visiting creatives, through workshops and sharings. In 2006, we are redesigning the program as:
- A national/regional resource for the development of new work
- A new residency program nurturing regionally grown projects
- Integrated, flexible creative development processes from studio to stage
- A hub for arts students, arts educators and arts boards
