LAUNCHPAD EMERGING ENSEMBLE
LITTLE GIRLS ALONE IN THE WOODS BY MORGAN ROSE PERFORMED BY THE LAUNCHPAD ENSEMBLE JULY 2025
HotHouse is calling young actors from Year 7 to Year 11, who are interested in learning how to create a full-length production within a professional rehearsal process.
If this is you, consider auditioning for our 2024 LaunchPad Emerging Ensemble at HotHouse Theatre!
HotHouse Theatre’s LaunchPad Emerging Ensemble is a term-based, by-audition drama program focused on the skills development of emerging performers, preparing them to launch toward their chosen disciplines.
Prioritising curiosity, connection and play, artists will begin the process of discovering their craft through exploration of rehearsal room process, performance, theatre-making techniques and introduction to text.
In 2024, LaunchPad artists will be working toward a production of a new Australian play for public presentation in October.
HotHouse will run a 3-day Audition Workshop for LaunchPad in the January School Holidays | 17–19 January @ 10am-4pm.
There is no charge to participate in the audition workshop but participants must be available to attend for the full 3 days.
It will be a gentle audition process weaved through 3 days of fun drama games and activities – a great experience on its own!
In a term intensive winter project, the 24/25 ensemble bring to life Morgan Rose’s LITTLE GIRLS ALONE IN THE WOODS these July school holidays.
A contemporary, feminist fuelled retelling of The Bacchae – Euripides Greek tragedy in ode Dionysus, the Greek god of festivity and madness- LITTLE GIRLS ALONE IN THE WOODS tells the story of a group of teenagers in a small country town, as they observe the mysterious disappearance of their female peers.
Orwellian in nature, the work reflects on the response that young people have to the multi-layered pressures of the world, from next week’s homework assignment to global conflict.
As an opportunity to further explore character motivation and themes of youth autonomy, peer pressure, gender norms and social expectations: the Launchpad present their own gritty rendition of this compelling work.
Cast: Frances Brown, Charlie Cook, Ruby Davis, Saraya Essop, Vivienne Field, Lily Fruend, Ava Lonel, Harriet Nickols, Oli Pidd and Thomas Spalding.
